A striking, large carved oak table lamp (75 cm) attributed to Scandinavian sculptor Peer Merløe, dating to the 1930s and executed in an elegant Art Nouveau manner. The sculptural base features two nude female figures, finely carved in high relief, rising to support the bulb holder—an eye-catching blend of craftsmanship and sensual, flowing form.
The lamp is finished with quality brass fittings, including a brass lampshade holder, and a brass-and-porcelain E27 bulb holder. It has been professionally rewired with brown twisted cloth flex and fitted with an inline on/off switch, making it ready for use while retaining a period-appropriate look.
Condition note: there is some age-related warping to the oak at the base, as expected for a piece of this age, but it does not affect the overall integrity or stability of the lamp.
A rare, decorative statement piece—ideal for a console, sideboard, or reading corner—bringing warm oak tones and classic Art Nouveau character to any interior.
